Rib Room History

 

 

 

1988

Coney Island opens in Beautiful DOWNTOWN Fort Smith, Arkansas. Outside, to the West of the Coney Island Building, was a charming little Garden Area. This is where the Rib Room ‘SEED’ was planted & where a Beer Garden would soon grow.

 

1990

Coney Island acquires the Downtown ‘Pizza Wagon’ & begins making improvements to ‘the little Garden’…

 

1991

Bill organizes AND produces the 1st Riverfront Blues Festival

 

1994

Coney Island’s Beer Garden opens & Bill, w/ Mark Perry (R.I.P.), takes 1st Place in Pork (RIBS!) at the Arkansas State BBQ Championship!!!

 

1995

Coney Island’s Beer Garden hosts its 1st Nat’l Touring Act! POPA CHUBBY, who performs his Hit Song, Sweet Goddess of Love & Beer.

 

1996

The Pizza Wagon hits the ‘Trail’ (Papa’s Pub & Pizzaria is BORN!) & the Garden gets its 1st REAL Stage!

 

1998

Coney Island Retires. Neumeier’s Rib Room & Beer Garden is BORN!!!

 

(OUR Championship Ribs will now have a Home of their OWN!)

 

 

1999-2008

Neumeier’s Rib Room & Beer Garden continues on its path of serving Championship Ribs and Hosting National, Regional & Local Entertainment!

 

2008

Neumeier’s Rib Room & Beer Garden CLOSES & Undergoes MAJOR Renovations for an ‘All New’ Music Venue!

 

2008-2009

Fort Smith, Arkansas Suffers from Rib Room ‘Withdrawals’; this is also when the Dry-Rub ‘Apocalypse’ begins!

 

2009

The Completely Reconstructed ‘2-Story’ Neumeier’s Rib Room and Beer Garden is again, “LIVE on Garrison Avenue!” (FYI… NO ONE was harmed during the Dry-Rub ‘Apocalypse’!) Nat’l acts are starting to make their way to our ‘new’ venue.

 

2013

Weather prohibits the Rib Room from serving Ribs ‘n Que on a regular basis; serving Ribs on an ‘occasional’ basis & our ‘Good ol’ Pulled ‘n Chopped Sandwiches’ for ALL scheduled shows & events. Nat’l acts are becoming more prevalent.
