Rib Room History
Neumeier's Rib Room & Beer Garden was founded on two principles:
- 1. Ribs (duh)
- 2. Passion for music (duh duh)
Well, there is so much history for this joint you can't put in on a website. The story is much better shared over a beer and some dry rub ribs. So until then, here are few dates that will give you the jest of things...
1988
Birth of Coney Island in Downtown Fort Smith. Next to it was a little ‘park' area. This is where the Rib Room ‘seed' started to formulate.
1990
Bill served up ribs at the first ever Riverfront Blues Festival - ran smooth out of ribs. (Oh yea..and he organized the first festival on top of it!)
1990
Coney Island acquires downtown "Pizza Wagon" and started making improvements to the ‘park.'
1994
Coney Island's Beer Garden opens
1994
Bill Neumeier wins the Arkansas State Barbecue Championship for his dry-rub pork ribs
1995
Hosted the first national touring act, "Popa Chubby, who sings "Sweet Goddess of Love & Beer. 1996 - Sold the "Pizza Wagon," built the first ‘real' stage and make the "park" a little larger.
1998
Coney Islands signs were replaced with "Neumeier's Rib Room & Beer Garden."
2007
Neumeier's Rib Room & Beer Garden undergoes reconstruction for new and larger venue.
2007-2009
Fort Smith suffers from Rib Room withdrawals.
2009
New 2-story Neumeier's Rib Room & Beer Garden is LIVE on the avenue!
